PROVINCIAL ELDERS' CONFERENCE (PEC)
PURPOSE:
To provide leadership based on the priorities of all church ministries & to administer the polity of the province.
BOARD COMPOSITION: 7 members (estimated)
- PEC President - Elected by open ballot at Synod
- 3 Clergy - Elected by nomination at Synod
- (increase of 1 under new proposal)
- 3 Lay - Elected by nomination at Synod
- (increase of 1 under new proposal)
CURRENT ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer the call process & appointment procedures.
- Develop relationships with & oversee congregations including Quadrennial Reviews.
- Provide conflict management support as needed.
- Make appointments to boards/commissions/task forces.
- Supervise & manage the day-to-day operations of the Province.
- Oversee Unity & ecumenical relationships.
- Oversee candidacy & clergy development.
- Oversee planning & preparation for Synod.
- Communicate with Bishops' Conference
Proposed ADDITIONS TO ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement strategic directives of Synod & set plans & priorities for the Board of Cooperative Ministries.
- Oversee Board of Cooperative Ministries (BCM) & Provincial Support Services (PSS).
- Oversee new church development.
- Approve the Provincial Budget.
- Allocate available financial resources of the province based on Synod priorities.
- Approve financial relief.
- Manage, report & communicate progress & successes from Synod directives.
